This year's Remembrance Day Parade got off to a very wet start! Surprisingly though there were plenty of spectators who braved the wet weather to pay tribute to our fallen heroes.
There were over a dozen masons, from various Torbay Lodges, in attendance and, as you would expect, the mood among us was jovial despite the rain. Once the procession commenced it became a bit of a trick to march in time while avoiding the rivulets of water running off of the umbrellas.
As usual there was good turnout from the various uniformed organisations and the youngsters showed good discipline and portrayed a fine image for their respective organisations.
Once the parade had arrived at the Cenotaph the flare was launched and then the bugler played The Last Stand. It was at this point the Public Announcement system decided to play up so it became confusing to know just where we were in the ceremony. After a few attempts the system came back to life and the rest of the ceremony continued well.
This year it was the turn of Petitor Lodge to lay the wreath on behalf of Freemasonry in Torbay. The picture (taken by George Tricker) shows W.Bro Keith Williams, Worshipful Master of Petitor Lodge, paying respects after laying the wreath.
Bro. John Thompson of St John's Lodge arranged a collection at the quayside to assist the Help For Heroes charity and raised approximately £50. Well done John!
