2016 Ladies Night

Oh, what a night! Not late December back in’63, but late June in 2016.

The St John’s Lodge Ladies Evening was held at the Carlton Hotel, Torquay on Saturday the 25th June 2016. Hosted by the Worshipful Master, Worshipful Brother John Thompson and his wife, Gayle.

After greeting everyone they took their places to tremendous applause so that the festivities of the evening could begin.

Once again, after many years, we were back in the Carlton Hotel. We all enjoyed a four course dinner which was served with professionalism by the hotel staff. Grateful thanks to Ben, the duty manager on the night. I didn’t make the evening easy for him, but he responded professionally with a smile on his face.

2014 Cream Tea & Challenge

cream-teaUnfortunately we left it a bit late to promote this event and as a result of very few bookings we have decided to postpone this event to another date.

This year we decided to make the Challenge Trophy event simple and family friendly. We were holding a cream tea afternoon and had combined it with some garden games and the teams are competing for the Challenge Trophy.

Unfortunately low numbers have meant we will have to reschedule this event.

2014 Gala Evening

Our Worshipful Master, W.Bro Shapley, has organised a Gala Evening to be held at the lodge on Saturday 25th October 2014, with all profits being donated to the building fund.

The evening starts with pre-dinner drinks followed by a 3 course meal which then leads into an evening of entertainment. There will be fun and laughter with comedian Paul Cobley, who will be supported by singers Catherine Hamilton and John Shapley.

February Fun Night

With the recent miserable weather it seemed like it would be a good idea to have a social night at the Lodge. The plan was an evening of frivolity and various games available for people to play. Games such as Roulette, Dominoes, Cribbage, Snakes & Ladders, and we managed to talk Les & Jane into running one of their fun games.

There was be a typical mixed buffet of sandwiches, chicken drumsticks, pasta, suasage rolls, pasties etc. and we kept to our usual low price of £5.00 per person. All profits from the night were donated to Anode to help replenish their food bank.
